Soroptimist International Vancouver is a group of professional women that has been working to support women with low incomes to achieve financial independence and housing security. They began operating social housing in 1960 at two locations. This project is redeveloping their aging, two-storey apartment building on 13th Avenue in Vancouver, resulting in a significant increase in units from 21 to 135. The housing is both designed and developed by women rented to women in the workforce, senior women, single mothers, and their children. The new building includes a shared garden and outdoor space and is within walking distance of a SkyTrain station and many neighbourhood amenities.
